Friends of Hovingham School (FOHS) Association

Mary Pacitto

This is an active group which undertakes fundraising activities and organises social activities within the school community. The children benefit enormously from the funding that the FOHS provides. For example the FOHS purchased the outdoor play equipment, organises a summer barbecue each year and helps to support off site visits.

Fundraising activities include;

  • Easter Draw
  • Bags 2 School Appeal
  • Community Cafe at Hovingham Market
  • Sponsored Walks

FOHS are always looking for parents and carers to come and lend a hand with fundraising.  If you'd like to know more about upcoming meetings or how you can help please do contact any of the committee - we'd love to hear from you.

FOHS Treasurer - 9th March 2018

Sally Gordon-Finlayson has decided to step down from being Treasurer of FOHS after 8 years. If anyone is interested in the role, please contact James Pynn via email ( or you can catch him for a chat at school. It's not an onerous job - just involves keeping an eye on FOHS funds, banking cheques and helping to work out how to spend our money effectively.

Market Café

Huge thanks to the Friends of Hovingham School for organising and running the Hovingham market café at the weekend. Your sterling efforts are hugely appreciated and not taken for granted. Thank you to all who supported the café too!

FOHS would like to say a huge “THANK YOU” to all the parents, grandparents, teachers and carers who helped make this year’s Hovingham Christmas Market Café a roaring success. Thanks to everyone who made delicious cakes, buns, soups and sausage rolls (including our ever-brilliant school chef, Miss Martin) and especially to all the mums who helped on the day – what a team! We raised a whopping £629.19, every penny of which will go towards fun trips out, much-needed equipment and educational visits for all the pupils at Hovingham School. Thanks again and happy Christmas from everyone at FOHS!

Get Baking for Hovingham School!

Friends of Hovingham School (FOHS) need your delicious cakes, biscuits and tray bakes to sell at the Hovingham Market Café on 3rd December so we can raise money for school. Cakes can be brought into school on the Friday 2nd December or to the Village Hall between 8.30am – 9.00am on Saturday 3rd December. Sorry, no shop-bought cakes please - the market won't let us sell them!  Thank you so much - let's raise lots of money for the kids!

Miss Martin is going to make some more Roasted Pumpkin Soup and Pumpkin Cake to sell at the Hovingham Market Café so there will be chance for you to try these amazing recipes for yourself.
