Special Books or StoriesAs part of our RE work we have been talking about books and stories that are special to us as a link in to why the Bible is a special book. The children were very enthusiastic about their favourite stories and would like to share them with their friends which is a lovely idea. Children are invited to bring their favourite book or story to school on Tuesday 17th September so we can share them during RE. |
Art ShirtsIt has been wonderful to see all the children looking so smart in school and we would like to help look after your investment in our school uniform. We would be very grateful if children could, at the most convenient opportunity, bring in an old shirt from home which we can use during art activities. If anyone has a collection of old shirts in their wardrobe we will happily take them off your hands! |
Wednesday 11th September - Cultural Diversity DayOn Wednesday 11th September we had a Cultural Diversity Day in school and welcomed Yesmien, known as Yazi, in to our School. Yazi is British born and bred but proud of her heritage. Her family originate from a small village in Azaad, Kashmir. Yazi has provided cultural diversity workshops with schools across the North of England and last year her work with a school featured on the BBC. A brilliant day was had by all when Yazi came to visit. Howard Class amazed us with their Bollywood dancing whilst listening carefully to instructions and the speed of the music. They also thoroughly enjoyed making delicious chapatis and tried other traditional foods from Azaad. Dressing up in the beautiful clothes was a real highlight! We'd like to say a big thank you to Yazi for visiting and teaching us so much. This exciting day furthered our work of supporting tolerance of those of different faith and beliefs.
