After School Gardening Club

Tuesday 24th May 2016

Thank you to Mr. Willoughby for his kind donation of grass seeds, compost and pots. The children have finished gardening club with their very own grasshead. Don't forget to water them!

Tuesday 12th April 2016

Despite the wet weather, Gardening Club got off to a flying start as the children began to tidy away last year’s rubbish and make way for the new vegetables and plants we will grow this year. Children tidied around the front of the school and the vegetable beds at the side. We looked at the compost bins and how they help us recycle. Children then chose to sow a variety of vegetables; carrots, lettuce, beetroot and courgettes. These will be tended over the next few weeks whilst we get on with other jobs around the garden areas of our school.  Next week, if the weather is good, we hope to pick the last few leeks from the vegetable beds and taste them along with some herbs we are growing.

Mrs Harland and Mrs Caddy will be running Gardening Club again this summer. It will be held on a Tuesday after school until 4:30pm. All pupils are welcome to apply. There are 20 places available.

Summer Term 2015 - Lunchtime Gardening Club 12:30 - 1pm

Gardening club has got off to a great start. The children firstly got to pick, prepare, cook and eat some some of last year’s produce. They tried leeks and Swiss chard, which has been blooming in the front beds looking very majestic over the winter.

The children added herbs to the pan and then ate the dish with relish. Some of them even took produce home to try with their families. This is a great way to celebrate what we have grown in school and share it with others. Well done to the gardeners from last year’s club who started off these vegetables.
